In 1985, American LaFrance designed a new modular-construction pumper, to be called the Rebel.  The prototype was being built on a 1984 Ford C-8000 chassis.  Before the apparatus could be completed, the doors were closed at Elmira.  The chassis and components were later taken to the Kersey facility.  The apparatus was completed there and delivered in 1986 to nearby Bluefield, WV.

This was the ONLY Rebel produced.
